Start with jobs that tell you more
HireMN does not label a job teen-friendly just because it is part-time, entry-level, or lower paid. Teen-friendly, minimum hiring age, first-job-friendly, and previous-experience signals only appear when the underlying job data supports them.
Useful first-job searches
- No previous experience required — employers explicitly say prior paid experience is not required.
- No résumé required — direct HireMN roles that accept a HireMN profile instead of requiring a résumé.
- Quick Apply — eligible direct jobs with no résumé requirement and no screening questions.
- Open to age 16 — jobs where the employer supplied a minimum hiring age compatible with 16.
No work history yet? You still have experience.
Sports, school activities, volunteering, clubs, babysitting, lawn care, family responsibilities, community work, and personal projects can demonstrate teamwork, reliability, leadership, customer service, physical skills, and technology skills. HireMN lets you describe those honestly without pretending they were paid employment.
A simple first-job checklist
- Complete your HireMN profile and availability.
- Add skills and real experience from school, activities, volunteering, projects, or responsibilities.
- Search for jobs with explicit age, experience, and résumé information.
- Save the opportunities that fit.
- Apply and track direct HireMN applications in My Jobs.
- Prepare for employer contact and interviews.
Minimum hiring age is not a legal guarantee
A minimum hiring age shown on HireMN is an employer-stated fact about that position. Youth-employment rules can also depend on age, hours, school status, occupation, job duties, and equipment. HireMN does not certify legal eligibility for an individual worker or role.
For parents helping with a first job
You can use this page and HireMN job search without a parent account. A candidate’s saved jobs, applications, private age setting, résumé, contact information, and application tracking activity remain part of the candidate’s own account.
